The Learning Toolbox is designed for secondary level students who are enrolled in general education classes and must pass high stakes tests. The strategies in this website are designed to enable them to become active learners so that they can master the academic demands placed on them. If your child is enrolled in general education classes in which there are rigorous academic demands and your child is having difficulty meeting these demands, the strategy instruction approach might be appropriate for your child. If your child is not receiving strategy instruction, it may be necessary for you to advocate for consideration of this approach by your child's teacher. If necessary, request a new IEP meeting so that this educational approach can be considered.
