NETS*T Standard I:  Technology Operations and Concepts

Rubric 1B
Teachers demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies.

 

Criterial Attributes (all attributes must be addressed to warrant “meets” on rubric)

Adequate Technology Professional Development Plan (see excerpt: Word format, PDF format).
    Specifies plans to engage in at least two professional development activities per year over the next several years (ie, engage regularly).  
       
Adequate documented participation in professional development opportunities (certificates, transcripts, course syllabus, materials received or created, journal reflections, etc.)
    Documentation reflects engagement in formal and/or informal activities as demonstrated by the types of evidence associated with these activities (eg, certificates, logs of online sessions, work products).  Documentation should reflect participation in at least two activities per year over multiple years.  
       
Adequate reflection.
   

The reflection should address each critical attribute in turn.

Technology Professional Development Plan:
Describes the rationale for the activities are included in the plan.  Discusses why the teacher thinks that these activities will help better support student learning (eg, anticipated impact).

Participation in professional development opportunities:
Describes how professional development opportunities attended have impacted the classroom.  Gives at least two examples of how technology is used in the classroom as a result of attendance at specific professional development opportunities and how it supports student learning. 

In addition, the reflection should talk holistically about why it is important to stay abreast of technology developments.  This may include mention of what is considered the appropriate role of technology is in supporting teaching and learning.
