Key Words and Phrases to Include and Address in Reflections:
1. Acceptable Use Policy guidelines for appropriate use of technology resources within the school’s or division’s network; written rules by which all employees and students must abide
   
Tips
1. Provide evidence that you are aware of policies that affect your and your students’ use of technology resources. Provide an artifact that is your school and/or division’s Acceptable Use Policy.
2. In addition, provide evidence to show how you incorporate into your procedures adherence to the policy. Reflections should discuss how your artifact specifically addresses issues in the AUP.
   
Examples of content for reflection:

1.

Student requests to bring his personal laptop to class in order to connect to the school network to do research during his study hall. Reflection describes how teacher deals with the situation, explaining to student that he may not do this as students are not allowed to connect personal laptops inside the division’s firewall.
2. Teacher asks parent volunteer to sit with individual students as they access previewed websites to learn about habitats. Reflection describes how this procedure adheres to the policy that elementary students may only use the Internet under adult supervision.

1. Safe  – free of danger (due to physical hazards in classroom or due to Internet threats)
2. Healthy  – clean (as in hygienic or as in wholesome)
   
Tips
1. Depending on the age of student you teach, your perspective on the terms “safe” and “healthy” may differ greatly. Provide evidence of effort made on your part to provide a safe and/or healthy environment for students.
   
Examples of content for reflection:

1.

Teacher provides antibacterial wipes for students so they may wash hands before and after using the computers in the lab. Reflection discusses how this promotes a healthier environment for all.
2. Teacher sets Google preference to “Safe Search” on classroom computer. Reflection describes how this additional layer of filtering provides for a more potentially-wholesome environment for students using the Internet.
3. Teacher submits digital photograph of classroom. Reflection discusses how the specific arrangement of equipment demonstrates an attention to safety for the students in the classroom.
