The Evaluators have to be well-trained and experienced in order to be consistent and fair in their judgments. If they are not, then the integrity of the entire program falls apart. The rubrics provided by ISTE help tremendously in supporting the process. However, over the past two years, experienced Evaluators found that there were still ambiguities regarding some of the finer points of evaluation. So, we developed the Evaluator Guide to help Evaluators get up to speed more quickly on the many factors that enter into the judgment. The Guide itself consists of two parts. The first is a checklist that novice and veteran Evaluators can use to guide their decision making step-by-step. The second is an elaborated consideration of factors specific to the rubric that can inform even the most demanding Evaluator and/or teacher. The Evaluator Guide is available to all Evaluators and teachers so that everyone involved in the process is literally on the same page.
