An example of a professional productivity tool is an electronic grade book. Using electronic grade books, teachers are able to record and average grades faster, and produce more readable professional looking progress reports. Also, electronic grade books may interface with a school’s student information system, making the production of reports cards easier, more accurate, and faster. |

I export a text file from Classxp (attendance system) of student and parent names at the beginning of the year. I then use the names with a Word mail merge to send personalized welcome letters home to parents. Using mail merge allows me to produce higher quality documents (personalized) in greater quantity in a small amount of time. |
| 2. | An electronic grade book allows me to provide higher quality information to parents. If a student is struggling, I can email a weekly progress report to his/her parents. The progress report shows all class assignments, assignments that are missing and the grade on each assignment. This detailed information helps parents monitor progress and takes no more than a minute to produce each week. |
