| Manager | Teacher Profiles | Virtual Community | Links | Funding Alert* | Welcome to the 21st Century Skills VCOP. I’m Toni Sheets, Manager of the P21 VCOP as we call it. As teachers and ITRTs across Virginia achieve their NETS*T certification, first in the SVTC and now in the Microsoft/JMU Partnership, they all have the same question – What’s Next? What is the next challenge for these capable and motivated individuals? The P21 VCOP is the answer to this question. Wow! You are NETS*T certified! First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! Secondly, have YOU found YOURSELF asking – What IS next? If so, then you may be interested in checking out our VCOP. Members of our VCOP are all NETS*T certified and work with other NETS*T certified teachers and ITRTs to pursue the following goals: 1. Explore the implementation of P21 projects. These projects are consistent with the educational framework set forth by the Partnership for 21st Century Skills. See the website below to find out more. 2. Collaboratively pursue funding. Members of the P21 VCOP first identify and then collaborate on externally funded projects of interest. External funders like collectives, especially statewide collectives whose members share a common vision. Members of this VCOP have access to a special funding alert! website which tracks funding opportunities. 3. Capture best practices in Educational Technology. This is one of the most exciting parts to me. Who is better to capture best practices than the people who implement these practices? Members of the P21 VCOP identify, capture and then disseminate examples of technology-enhanced teaching and learning to teachers and other ITRTs across the state. 4. Consult on special projects. Members of the P21 VCOP are the go-to group for design and implementation issues for selected special projects under consideration for one or more members of the collective. For example, projects on the horizon that may benefit from this consultation include the Virginia Content Respository and a competition for the best teacher - and student - created digital content for education. If you are NETS*T certified and would like to join and contribute to this growing community of Ed Tech professionals and believe in these goals, please complete the P21 VCOP application available at the link below. We look forward to your ideas on how you can best contribute to this community.
