Sweet Music

This short piece can be used as a tool to teach a basic I, IV, V, I chord progression. Designate three sets of three students. One group will be the I chord, the second group will be the IV chord, and the last group will be the V chord. Each student gets a bell that is a note of the
chord. Using a chart that maps out all of the chords, point to each chord as you come to it while listening to the piece. Then, the second time you listen to it, have each group play their chord when it's their time.

"Sweet Music" is the short chorus by Monostatos and his slaves in Act I. Just when Monostatos is about to overtake Pamina and Papageno, Papageno plays his magic chimes. Monostatos and the slaves are entranced by the "sweet music" and begin to dance!
