Frequently Asked Questions

1.) How do I go about getting help for my computer problem?

The first step in getting help for your computer problem is to contact the JMU Computing HelpDesk either by phone 568-3555, online , in person at the Frye Building, or utilize the HelpDesk's self-help technology. The HelpDesk is best prepared to respond to questions concerning JMU's recommended software standards, central servers and systems (such as email, e-campus, etc.), network and Internet.  If you feel your inquiry or problem is more departmental-specific, please don't hesitate to email or call Susan Dendinger, the COE Technical Support Coordinator at 568-3569.

2.) How often should I restart my computer?

It is recommended that users restart their computers daily or when they notice a decrease in performance. If you notice your computer getting slower or generating odd messages a restart can usually help these types of problems.
